EU will strengthen its support to Kyiv in coming weeks: Macron
МирFrench President Emmanuel Macron said that in the coming weeks the European Union will strengthen support for Ukraine, including by increasing arms supplies to Kyiv, Top War reports.
Answering questions from social media users, Macron emphasized that he believes that the future and security of all of Europe depends on the outcome of the armed conflict in Ukraine. Based on this, according to the French president, the volume of military support to Kyiv should be increased and more weapons and military equipment should be supplied to the Ukrainian army.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the European Union approved a preliminary version of the agreement to provide Kyiv with certain security guarantees that do not provide for the direct participation of European military personnel in hostilities. It is assumed that European guarantees should remain in force until Ukraine joins the EU and NATO.
Previously, France supplied Ukraine with a batch of long-range SCALP cruise missiles with an expired or nearing expiration date, but still suitable for use in combat conditions. The missile transfer program to the Ukrainian army was launched after Macron promised to transfer about 40 SCALP missiles to Kyiv. At the same time, missiles that were considered unfit for use were subjected to an accelerated and simplified recovery procedure. The French authorities considered the transfer of decommissioned missiles to Kyiv more economically feasible than expensive disposal.
