Armenia’s main resources are consolidated around the president, the expert of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies Edgar Vardanyan told reporters on Monday.
“The Armenian nation’s main problem remains unsolved as the current political system is anti-democratic. Besides that major problems are corruption, migration, social-economic issues. At the same time the situation differs in the camps of the opposition and the authorities,” the expert said.
According to him, the ruling camp is currently consolidated around a small group, while the main resources are consolidated around President Serzh Sargsyan.
The single-winner voting system is a key in ruling camp’s hands as currently 41 of the 131 MP got elected through this system.
“It is beneficial for the powers as the oligarchs will be elected. First of all they work better with the public and can obtain voices. Thus the ruling parties get the possibility to formally distance themselves from the oligarchs presenting them as single-winners outside the party list,” the expert mentioned.
