Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia issued a statement on the Karabakh conflict settlement as a result of a meeting in Sochi Russia, Russian President's press service reported.
The leaders of the three countries underlined the extensive work on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict carried out since their meeting in November 2008 when they adopted the Moscow declaration.
In the statement, the presidents note that "progress has been registered in the coordination of the basic principles of Nagorno Karabakh settlement as a result of intensive negotiations."
"Taking into consideration the importance of proceeding to the development of the Peace treaty, the Presidents of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed readiness to accelerate the process of coordination of the basic principles," reads the statement.
The two Presidents highly appreciated the activity of the Russian President and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries and voiced hope that Russia, France and the United States would continue to play an active role in the process until lasting peace and stability are established in the region.
The Presidents of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan took note of the report of the Co-Chairs on the mechanisms of investigation of incidents at the line of contact worked out jointly with the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
The Presidents confirmed that the development of humanitarian contacts between the parties was one of the confidence-building measures in the framework of settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
In this regard the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan pledged to contribute to the further dialogue between the intellectuals, scientific and public circles of the two countries.
This is the 10th trilateral meeting since 2008. In 2011, at the initiative of the Russian side, the presidents held two meetings in Sochi, (March 5) and in Kazan (June 24).
