The authorities will not reject the majority election system - Galust Sahakyan.
Political
Just as the last time, Armenia’s President and the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Chairman, Serzh Sargsyan, could head the Party’s election list in the upcoming parliamentary elections, RPA National Assembly (NA) Faction leader Galust Sahakyan said during a press conference on Wednesday.
He also ruled out that the authorities would reject the majority election system, and recalled that this issue was closed when the new Electoral Code was adopted.
“I believe all foundations are there in order for RPA to maintain its positions in politics and to also have a certain edge. And concerning the forty-one majority election districts, today we will decide as to who may take part in that contest,” Galust Sahakyan stated.
Reflecting on youth participation in NA, RPA NA Faction leader noted: “It would be very good if those who deal with politics enter the parliament. NA is not an executive body, where a junior participant comes, then becomes a major participant, and so on.”
And with respect to businessmen’s inclusion in RPA’s election list, Galust Sahakyan said those who are active, irrespective of being businessmen, will be in the list.
He also informed that RPA’s regular congress is scheduled for mid-March.
