Yerevan State University (YSU) held jubilee conference on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Army on Wednesday.
YSU chancellor Aram Simonyan and Armenian MOD Seyran Ohanyan delivered welcoming speeches.
“Armenian Armed Forces (AF) and YSU initiated the conference, which is the continuation of joint efforts in scientific-cultural sphere between AF and YSU. We should not judge on the Army through domestic-political developments and inter-party clashes. I have no doubt that the conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Armenian Army establishment will be a major step in our history and the restoration of independence followed two decades of history within the framework of the regular army, the role and importance of the correct definition.
Army has done a huge work in international military cooperation for the last ten years. Bilateral relations are developing with our strategic partner Russia, as well as with the U.S. and European states, with Ukraine, Belarus, China and Iran. Armenia is an active participant in Collective Security Treaty Organization and North-Atlantic Treaty Organization projects, as well as the OSCE and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
I congratulate all for the upcoming occasion [Jan. 28, Day of the Army] and wish the conference effective and fruitful work dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenian AF establishment,” Ohanyan’s speech reads.
