Armenia’s Cabinet sitting starts with Q&A.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan opened on Jan.26 the cabinet sitting with two inquires addressed to the Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan and Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Arthur Petrosyan.

The head of the executive power was interested in the process of preparation for Yerevan's becoming capital of Bologna process and participation of Armenian athletes in London Olympic Games. Ashotyan said Yerevan is one of the first CIS countries in the history of Bologna process and the second from the Eastern European countries to assume this role. Armenia's capital will host the secretariat of the Bologna process. By 2015 Yerevan will assume the responsibility of the process. The minister said government, private sector, donor organizations and university sector assist the process. The Education Minister said assuming the role of the capital of the Bologna process means manifestation of trust toward our educational system and assessment of our organizational skills. "It is an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of our educational system, it is very honorary and responsible mission," the minister said. During the three years Armenia will spend over one million euros. Currently negotiations are being held with air carriers for reducing the ticket fees.

Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Arthur Petrosyan noted that preparation works for the Olympic Games are coming to an end. It has just remained to specify the amount of the allocated means which will be clear by the end of the month.
