A piece of chewing gum purportedly to be the last used by Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager has reportedly sold for over $600,000.
Fergie, who was renowned for his chewing on the sidelines, oversaw the Red Devils' last EPL game of the season yesterday, after 26 years at the helm of the club.
As he was celebrating his side's dramatic 5-5 draw with West Bromwich Albion, a fan laid claim to the bizarre souvenir and immediately offered it for auction on eBay, in a custom-made case.
British newspaper The Metro has reported that the item sold for $608,000 overnight.

Reports of the sale came as Ferguson headed into retirement with another gong - the Premier League manager of the year award.
