Armenia’s Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan, issued a message in connection with 20th anniversary of the Armed Forces.
“Twenty years ago, the Armenian people again had to make a heroic history and start the struggle for Artsakh’s [Karabakh] liberation and for the independence of the Republic of Armenia. Owing to the nationwide sacrifices, dedication, and efforts, today—twenty years later—we can document that this struggle has succeeded.
Today Artsakh is liberated, [and] the Republic of Armenia is an independent state. Dear relatives of those military servicemen who sacrificed their lives to defend the Fatherland, of those military servicemen who fell while performing their duties, and of the missing, it is thanks to the selfless service of your sons, fathers, and brothers that the Armenian people today benefit from the joy of peacefully living and creating in their homeland, and the army has formed at the expense of your most precious sacrifice. Eternal glory to the Armenian Army devotees!” the message specifically reads.
