ANC coordinator blames authorities for trying to destroy political prisoners morally.
Political
If somebody is imprisoned for his/her political viewpoints, that person is a political prisoner regardless his/her further behavior, off parliamentary opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) coordinator Levon Zurabyan said at a press conference on Monday.
“Many of those, not bearing the tortures anymore, ask for apology petition. However, even though they ask for it, it does not mean they stop to be political prisoners. They may be forced to take the step, so they are victims.
Some of the political prisoners yielding to pressures of the authorities were engaged in a deal with them. I do not want to criticize them. On the contrary, I blame the authorities for trying to destroy them morally,” Zurabyan said refusing to name those who agreed to the deal.
To note, former political prisoner Suren Sirunyan had announced that he takes back his appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. In response, ANC member Gagik Jhangiryan said in case Sirunyan takes the step he will no longer be called a political prisoner.
