Armenia-based National Self-Determination Union still remains alone.

Several months ago, the National Self-Determination Union (SDU) stated its willingness to form an alliance with other political forces. However, the statement has so far remained unanswered.
At his meeting with journalists Tuesday, NDU Chairman Paruir Hairikyan presented the party’s statement. According to the statement, the party’s proposal to form an alliance excited interest, but has so far remained unanswered.
According to the statement, most of the political parties do not give priority to human rights, particularly to citizens’ right to be involved in state administration. This is the reason why Armenian citizens remain “subjects without rights” for the authorities.
“The other parties can better explain the reasons why they failed to form alliances than I can. I would not like to discuss any party’s unwillingness to form an alliance. It is up to them. But the process is still on, and an alliance may still be formed,” Hairikyan said.
He is ready to form an alliance with any party, including the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), which he “dislike[s]." The only precondition is, however, that “they must accept our program of creating a thoroughly democratic country.”
