The trial of the four youth activists of the Armenian National Congress proceeds. The activists are charged with "applying force against police officers" during a clash that took place near Swan Lake on 9 August 2011.
Police officer Shahen Harutyunyan testified at the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron-Nork Marash districts, and according to the prosecutor, Harutyunyan passes as an injured party. Harutyunyan today insisted on the testimonies that he had given during the preliminary inquiry and mentioned that ANC activist Tigran Arakelyan had hit him and thrown him to the ground. He added that David Kiramijyan had hit him as well.
According to the police officer, he fell and lost his phone, and the situation was such that he hadn't even tried to find his phone.
Shahen Harutyunyan also said "the youth were applying force against his colleages" that had helped the ANC activists "get in the car and arrest them". According to the injured party, "the situation was out of control".
The trial continues.
