Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan is a bad actor - NDU leader Paruir Hairikyan.

Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan is a bad actor, Paruir Hairikyan, Chairman of the National Self-Determination Union (SDU), told journalists on Tuesday.
He highly respected Robert Kocharyan until 1998, when he was a Nagorno-Karabakh political figure. However, Hairikyan cannot say the same about Armenia’s ex-president now.
“Something happened to him after 1999. I do not know what it was, but I am not kindly disposed to him now,” Hairikyan said.
He also stressed Robert Kocharyan’s role in reducing the president’s influence in Armenia. He did make any forecast about Robert Kocharyan’s return to big politics.
Under Armenia’s law every citizen enjoys this right. “Kocharyan is not a good actor. He had the Constitution amended so that the premier is more powerful now than the president. Serzh Sargsyan is strong now because his representatives constitute parliamentary majority,” Hairikyan said.
It is ridiculous that the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) should want Levon Ter-Petrosyan to become Armenia’s president, he said.
“If the ANC fails to constitute parliamentary majority, Ter-Petrosyan will be like the Queen of England,” Hairikyan said.
With respect to the policy implemented by Chairman of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukyan, Hairikyan noted that he remains committed to the coalition agreement.
“When I presented our program to him at our latest meeting, I noticed he remained committed to the coalition agreement,” Hairikyan concluded.
