Armenian Parliament to convene hearings on proportional election system.
Political
Upon the request of the parliamentary opposition Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun Parties and of the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party, the National Assembly (NA) will convene, on February 15, hearings on the initiative to change to a 100-percent proportional election system in Armenia. Chairman Davit Harutyunyan of NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs stated this during the Committee’s session on Wednesday.
Harutyunyan, who is also an MP from the coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia, also informed that the aforementioned parties had petitioned to him and to NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan with a request to convene such hearings. And subsequently NA Speaker sent a note, and Harutyunyan proposed that the hearings be convened on February 15 at 11 a.m.
The Committee and the parties will prepare the list of invitees for the hearings.
