Tigran Khzmalyan, a Sardarapat movement member, addressed an open letter to the world-famous singer Charles Azanavour.
The author asks the great singer to place his memorial flat in Yerevan (provided to him by the Yerevan authoirities) at the disposal of Armenia’s civil society.
In his letter, Mr Khzmalyan notes that Aznavour’s memorial flat will serve as a place for Constitution-guaranteed free meetings and freedom of speech.
“The anti-national regime in power in Armenia is now seeking to stage an ‘election comedy’ by means of rigging and pressure,” the letter says.
According to the author, Armenia’s authorities are torpedioing any attempt to raise public awareness of the real situation in the country.
“Considering the above, our request and proposal to you is that you place your memorial flat at the Armenian civil society’s disposal for it to turn into a place for freedom of speech, which befits your reputation,” says the letter.
