Armenian National Congress activist Tigran Arakelyan's attorney Vahe Grigoryan will present a challenge petition to Judge Gagik Poghosyan during the trial on February 7.
During today's trial on the case of the youth ANC activists, Judge Gagik Poghosyan declared to instigate a disciplinary proceeding against Tigran Arakelyan's attorney, Vahe Grigoryan. This comes after the attorney boycotted the previous trial.
After the 15 minutes that the judge gave the attorney and his client, the attorney showed up to the court and pleaded two days to prepare his challenge petition.
When asked on what grounds he is presenting the challenge petition, Vahe Grigoryan said:
"I will state the grounds in the text of the petition. In general, the judge is being subjective during the investigation and is breaching the principle of the court's impartiality."
The attorney also told the journalists providing coverage of the trial that depriving Tigran Arakelyan of the right to participate in the trial was also a crude violation.
"The court breached the conditions for sanctions that it has set."
During the previous trial, Judge Gagik Poghosyan dismissed Tigran Arakelyan from the courtroom after viewing Arakelyan's statement "The prosecutor is making a big deal" as disrespectful toward the court.
The attorney had also left the courtroom after seeing the "unfair sanction" against his client. Judge Gagik Poghosyan's also viewed Grigoryan's action as an offense and also took the decision on starting a disciplinary proceeding against him as well.
