At around 5:30 p.m., January 13, in Mher Mkrtchyan street in Yerevan, a VAZ- vehicle ran over Ashot Frangulyan, who received bodily injuries, while the driver escaped from the scene of the accident.
Frangulyan explained that the vehicle hit him while reversing. The driver stopped the car and got out, threatened to call the police, then dishonored him, got into the car and took to flight, leaving him helpless.
Frangulyan was taken to St. Gregory Lusavorich Medical Center in a random car, where he was treated. According to the forensic examination, his harm was of medium gravity. Based on t Frangulyan's complaint, a criminal case was instituted on January 20 and an investigation started.
It became known that the vehicle is registered in the name of Anna Hakobyan [wife of Haykakan Zhamanak day's chief editor Nikol Pashinyan], who was summoned on January 14 and 16 to come in for questioning. However, on January 19, Hakobyan's husband called the police investigation division and, without giving a reason, said he and his wife were refusing to come to the station.
The police central division was instructed to identify the driver of the vehicle.
A written response was received that Hayk Gevorgyan was responsible for the hit -and-run. It also became known that Gevorgyan was summoned on January 17 to come in for questioning.
Calling the investigator on January 20, Gevorgyan arranged the date and time for questioning but did not show up.
