Britain recalls its ambassador as US closes Damascus embassy.

Press TV - The British government has recalled its ambassador to Damascus in order to hold talks over the plots it has been drawing up for the future of Syria.
Following the lead of the US, which closed it embassy in Syria and pulled all its diplomats out of Damascus, British Foreign Secretary William Hague announced on Monday that his government has decided to recall its ambassador to Syria for consultations.
Speaking at the House of Commons, Hague told British lawmakers that the move was aimed to provide a channel through which the British government could express its “abhorrence” at the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
Hague’s comments come as thousands of Syrian citizens held a rally in support of their president on Sunday in Damascus as they thanked Russia and China for their vetoing a Western-Arab draft resolution at the UN Security Council.
Nevertheless, Hague criticised Russia and China for their veto saying they made a “grave error of judgement.”
“Such vetoes are a betrayal of the Syrian people,” said Hague.
Furthermore, Hague stated that Britain would seek other ways to topple the Syrian government and will intensify its contact with the Syrian opposition.
Hague also described the Syrian government as “a doomed regime” which could never “recover its credibility internationally.”
Hague’s comments reek of yet another Libyan-like scenario against Syria while Britain itself faces great financial woes with a £10 billion black hole in its defense budget.
