Early this morning the Armenian parliamentary forces learned the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) would not participate in the Tuesday sitting of Armenia’s parliament.
“I do not know what the PAP’s move means. We are voting and have a quorum,” Sukias Avetisyan, an MP of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), told journalists Tuesday.
“Their argument for their yesterday’s move is that the adoption of the bill on restrictions on cash transactions will enrich banks - it is not an anti-corruption bill. But the bill is really aimed at corruption control,” Avetisyan said.
In his turn, Tigran Karapetyan, Chairman of the Popular Party of Armenia, considers it ridiculous that the authorities do not see the problem of obvious collapse of Armenia’s ruling coalition.
“If the RPA does not consider the coalition’s disintegration to be a problem, it proves that it is the only ruling force, and there is no coalition. We should call a spade a spade. By means of this bill the RPA seeks to lay hands on the PAP’s resources,” Karapetyan said.
In response, Mr Avetisyan said, “We have discussed numerous bills, and the PAP did not vote for them. Why are you looking for political reasons?”
