Itar-Tass - More than half of Americans want Barack Obama to be re-elected to a second presidential term.

According to a recent poll 51 percent of Americans would vote for him. Sociologists have noted a significant strengthening of the incumbent's position.

The leader of the Republican presidential race, Mitt Romney can now count on 45 percent.

The main reasons for the increase in Obama’s rating, according to experts, is the gradual improvement of the U.S. economy and the reduction of unemployment.

Presidential elections will be held in the U.S. in November.
