Interpersonal relations are not the only factor contributing to different incidents in the army, the defense minister has said.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Seyran Ohanyan referred to the increasing number of incidents in the military, noting that a soldier’s poor knowledge of the military regulations could also be a cause of the repeating or continuing mishaps.

There are always people who fail to fulfill their tasks, the minister said, dwelling on the number of those sacked from service for an improper performance of duties.

“Around 10 officials were sacked from the high command; 10 department chiefs and 30 commanders of military units were held accountable,” Ohanyan said, adding that commanders of several subdivisions had also faced disciplinary measures.

The minister noted in the meantime that absolutely no commander would be pleased by an emergency case in his unit.

As for parents’ dissatisfaction with the criminal proceedings, Ohanyan considered it natural.

“Their demands are clear as they have lost sons,” he said, noting that they are doing everything possible to be maximum fair and honest with the parents.
