Action to protect Mashtots Park in Yerervan.

Environmentalists today held an action in front of Margaryan Hospital at Mashtots Park, which is located in the middle of the Mashtots, Koghbatsi, Arami and Buzand Streets.
Before the action, nearly 30 citizens formed a wall with the demand to put an end to the removal of demolished stands from Abovyan Street to the public park located near Mashtots Avenue.
"We demand that builders submit documents proving why they are working there, but they don't have those documents. There is no sign, and we consider this an illegal construction," said President of the "Greens Party" Armenak Dovlatyan.
The participants of the action were supported by "Heritage" and ARF-D deputies.
"This goes against the document on zones in Yerevan confirmed by the Armenian government and is a violation of the law. According to the plan, this entire territory is a green area and they had no right to do this," said "Heritage" MP Anahit Bakhshyan.
Deputy Lilit Galstyan sent an open letter to the mayor of Yerevan to not move the stands and to preserve the park, but "today it is turning into a structure that looks like an open-air provincial market of pavilions."
The action participants and the builders got into a little dispute. They didn't want to obey the demand of the environmentalists and put an end to the construction, but after a while, they started gathering their tools and remove the construction equipment from the park.
