Armenia`s Hrazdan city mayor elections kicked off.

Armenia’s Hrazdan city, Kotayk Region launched Mayor’s elections at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
There are two candidates: current mayor, ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) member Aram Danielyan, supported by his party, and former political prisoner Sasun Mikaelyan, supported by opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) and opposition Heritage party.
Despite cold weather, both candidates run their election campaign actively by having numerous meetings with their electorate.
The election intrigue is that the two candidates present the two main political powers the RPA and the ANC. Political and public circles accept it as authorities-opposition competition and another arena where the opposition’s victory can have a serious physiologic advantage ahead to the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Sasun Mikaelyan was an MP, while he was arrested and convicted after March 1, 2008 events (when ten people were killed in demonstrations in Yerevan downtown).
Aram Danielyan has been heading the city for 12 years.
To note, Armenia’s regions including Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, Shirak, Syunik and Tavush will hold elections on Sunday.
