Serzh Sargsyan received members of the delegation of the Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of Euronest.

President Serzh Sargsyan received today members of the delegation of the Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society of the Parliamentary Assembly of Euronest, who have arrived to Armenia to participate at the Committee meeting.

The President of Armenia welcomed the members of the delegation and wished the meeting of the Committee productive work. Serzh Sargsyan underlined that Armenia had ab origine welcomed the creation of Euronest - a parliamentary platform for cooperation between the EU and Eastern Partnership states. He also said that it could become an auxiliary platform for the advancement of the Eastern Partnership initiative and development of the regional cooperation.

According to the President, Armenia since day of its independence has chosen the path of Eurointegration and adheres to the European values which have always been part of the Armenian identity. Today, we are ready to conduct reforms to get back to our original system of values, which currently serves a base for the creation of common Europe. The President of Armenia underscored that down this road it is important to closely cooperate with the partners and have their assistance.

At the meeting, President Sargsyan responded to the questions raised by the members of the Evronest delegation which pertained to the organization and conduct of the forthcoming parliamentary elections, Armenia’s expectations from the Euronest and particularly, from the Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society, development of Armenia-Euronest relations and cooperation agenda, reforms in Armenia conducted toward the economic development and democratization, as well as related to Armenia’s position on the NK conflict settlement and recent developments in the peace process.
