Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) MP Manvel Badeyan says after a thorough study of the protest action at Yerevan's Mashtots Park he concluded that the demonstrators are divided into three layers.
"The first layer which has far-reaching political ambitions is directed by forces outside Armenia, who are interested in destabilizing the situation in Armenia. The second group includes people who are really concerned about the future of this country and finally the third group is comprised of people who are "militantly ignorant" and sober up only when ‘a stone is moved' in the country," he said.
Singer and songwriter Ruben Hakhverdyan says though he supported the protesters in the beginning, today he doubts their sincerity.
Moreover, Hakhverdyan trusts Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan who said ‘I am the son of my father [Andranik Margaryan, Armenia's ex-Prime Minister who died of infarction in March 2007] and cannot go against my conscience.'
Manvel Badeyan expressed his concern about the fate of the kiosk owners who have to work to earn their daily bread.
"The fish rots from the head down," Ruben Hakhverdyan said adding that ‘the issue will be settled as soon as the authorities step down.'
