As part of his official visit to South Korea, Armenian Minister Edward Nalbandyan met on Thursday the country’s prime minister, Kim Hwang-Sik.
The parties discussed the preparatory activities for the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit (March 26-27) and the EXPO-2012 International Exhibition (South Korea), and Armenia’s participation in those events.
They both expressed hope that the 20th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Armenia and South Korea would mark the beginning of an enhanced bilateral cooperation, and agreed to take steps in that direction.
FM Nalbandyan thanked the South Korean premier for his country’s assistance to Armenia since gaining independence. Hwang-Sik in turn reiterated the willingness to continue their technical assistance through the Korean International Agency.
The two officials also addressed a broad framework of issues related to bilateral cooperation and discussed further ways to develop political, economic and cultural cooperation.
At the start of the meeting, they exchanged congratulatory addresses by both countries’ presidents, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties.
After completing his visit to South Korea, the Armenian FM departed to Vietnam.
