Artificial earthquake in Yerevan.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations will host on Tuesday the presentation of a new real-time seismic intensity display system imported from Japan.
According to a press release by the Ministry, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will launch the system in capital Yerevan as part of the Japanese Government’s technical assistance program aimed to promote the implementation of Armenia’s Seismic Risk Assessment and Management project. The system will have five stations equipped with up-to-date digital engineering seismography.
It will help register the basic parameters of the earthquakes once they occur. The information obtained from the five stations will be then transferred to the servers of Ministry’s Crisis Management Center. The up-to-date software packages of those servers will help assess the earthquake impact, automatically displaying the earthquake strength on monitors.
After testing the new system, the specialists of the National Seismic Protection Service will visit a seismic observation station. They will then test the equipment through an artificial earthquake at the Crisis Management Center.
