Armenian Genocide bill pending French constitutionalists’ decision today.
Աշխարհ
The disputes on the constitutionality of the French Senate-approved bill outlawing the denial of genocides seem to be nearing their end.
On February 28 French Constitutional Council is going to discuss the constitutionality of the bill.
The country’s Constitutional Court is expected to issue its opinion later today.
On January 23, the French Senate approved the bill with a vote of 127 to 86, thus criminalizing the denial of all the genocides recognized by France.
Several lawmakers objecting to the bill applied to the French Constitutional Council on January 31, asking it to revise the document.
The Council was to decide the constitutionality of the draft within a month.
