ANC rally kicks off in Armenia’s capital.

A rally of the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) kicked off in Liberty Square of Yerevan. The rally is dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the March 1, 2008 events.
First President of Armenia and ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan, head of People’s Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan, chairman of “Republic” party’s political council Aram Sargsyan and heads of other parties are on the platform.
Opening the rally ANC member, chief editor of Haykakan Zhamanak daily Nikol Pashinyan said that over four years the Armenian authorities did nothing to solve the murder of civilians.
After the rally the participants will march to Myasnikyan monument where 10 people were killed in the March 1 tragic events.
Armenian opposition did not recognize official results of the presidential election held on February 19, 2008. Leader of the opposition Levon Ter-Petrosyan organized rallies in the Liberty Square, in the center of Yerevan, which lasted until March 1. Thousands took to the streets demanding that official election results should be canceled. Ten people, including two law enforcers, became victims of opposition-government confrontation.
The Armenian National Congress is an oppositional union founded in 2008 headed by first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Oppositional union comprises 17 political parties.
