Law on state of emergency may be perfectly passed but the society will not trust it - Bagrat Asatryan.

It is not important what the Armenian army is authorized by the law on state of emergency but how the society will respond to it, representative of off-parliament opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Bagrat Asatryan said commenting on the law On Legal Regime of the State of Emergency passed on Thursday.

The bill submitted by the Government, provoked a rebuke by the opposition as the law allows using the Army inside the state in case of Emergency Situations.

Anyway, the law supposes that Armed Forces’ units will not differ from those of policemen functionally.

However, Asatryan believes that those arguments are not persuasive for the society.

“The law may be perfectly passed but the society will not trust it, taking into account the time it was passed,” Asatryan said adding that the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) should promise publicly that it will not use any force or corrupt voters.
