Heritage party congress kicks off in Yerevan.

The opposition Heritage party has opened its seventh congress at the Government’s session hall.

The meeting has brought together representatives from different political forces, including the coalition Prosperous Armenia (PAP) and Rule of Law parties, and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D), as well as the extra-parliamentary opposition – the Armenian National Congress and the Free Democrats.

Members of different parties and politicians delivered speeches after the opening. Vahan Hovhannisyan of the ARF-D faction in parliament spoke of the cooperation initiatives between their party and Heritage, focusing particularly on their campaign against an Armenian-Turkish alliance and the passage of the state of emergency law, as well as the efforts to have the proposal on a 100% proportional representation system passed by the parliament.

Zaruhi Postanjyan of the Heritage party faction addressed the existing injustice in the country, noting that any citizen of Armenia is capable to combat them.

“We will be able to reinstate justice as we did twenty years ago, and as a political force, we will stand by each and every citizen,” she said.
