Senior lieutenant is arrested over the soldier`s murder case in an NKR unit.

During the talk with LURER.com, RA Senior Public Relations Officer of Defense Ministry`s Investigation Service Meri Sargsyan confirmed the information spread in media that on March 3, senior lieutenant of an NKR base Hovannes Hakobyan was arrested according to Article 375 (1) of the RA Criminal Code [abuse of power] for suspect of the murder case of Armenian soldier Tigran Varyan, 19, who was killed in NKR`s "Yeghnikner" unit on Feb. 29, at about 09:30am. To note, a criminal case had been launched over the case due to the Article 110 (1) of the RA Criminal Code in relation to Tigran Varyan's death (leading to suicide).

To recall, earlier expert of the Helsinki Association Ruben Martirosyan, who took part in the dissection of the soldier with the suggestion of the soldier`s parents, informed that there were signs of an assault and torture on Tigran Varyan's body.

The expert said he got the impression that the soldier had gone against several people and some of the murderers had kept him, while the other shot him.

Ruben Martirosyan, based on his impression of the examination of the soldier's body, viewed his death as intentional and mentioned that the soldier had received the wounds several minutes before his death.

The expert of the Helsinki Association views the instigation of a case according to Article 110 (1) of the RA Criminal Code in relation to Tigran Varyan's death (leading to suicide) as illegitimate and finds that it should be viewed as a brutal, intentional murder.
