An active member of the Sardarapat Movement and a coordinator for the Armenian Volunteers Union, Zhirayr Sefilyan, has issued a statement, denying any links between his union and the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC).
The activist particularly said that the Union withdrew from the opposition alliance in the summer of 2009 and ceased to maintain any ties with it ever since.
“As the coordinator of the initiative, I bring our society’s attention to the fact that we, i.e. – the Armenian Volunteers’ Union, and personally I, have not officially had anything in common with the [Armenian National] Congress since the summer of 2009,” reads the statement.
