Itar-Tass - In Salvador, the opposition National Republican Alliance, or ARENA, has won Sunday’s parliamentary election.

According to a preliminary vote count, the extreme right alliance has a slight edge over the ruling left-wing Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front. Nine political parties ran in the election of MPs.

Salvadorians also cast their ballots for municipal government agency members.
