Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) started today the nomination process for parliamentary candidates.
Representatives of political parties and alliances, as well as candidates from majority constituencies can submit their nomination papers beginning from March 12, 9:00 am of local time. The deadline for nominations is 6:00 pm, March 22.
On this occasion LURER.com held a talk with the ANC [Armenian National Congress] press secretary Arman Musinyan to find out whether there were any nominations from the ANC on March 12.
"As of current moment we are still on the stage of documents` preparation works. In the coming days the society will be informed about the nominations," said Arman Musinyan.
To note, during Feb. 24 extraordinary session Armenia’s Central Election Commission confirmed 2012 parliamentary elections'schedule of events.
Due to the schedule, the candidates' presentation of documents will be held from March 12 to March 22. The official campaign will start on April 8 after the registration of the nominees. Till April 6 the parties and the candidates nominated with majority system should present declarations about their incomes. The NA elections' official campaign will be held from April 8 to May 4. The process of printing the ballots will be carried out from April 26 to May 3. On May 5 the number of voters will be finally announced.
Campaign on May 5 is banned as this day is declared as a silent day on the eve of the elections. And on May 6 the voting of parliamentary elections will be held.
