"We Won`t Keep Silence": Group of soldiers brutally beaten in Yerevan military police department.

The Armenian youth group "We Won`t Keep Silence" has issued a statement, voicing concerns over military police officers’ misconduct against soldiers.
The activists claim that several soldiers taken to the military police department of the Yerevan garrison on March 14 were beaten brutally there because of a scuffle that broke out last month.
One of the soldiers, Arsen, who suffered most (he is claimed to have received facial injuries), was taken back to the military unit after being beaten and subsequently granted a leave, on condition that he would not tell anyone about the incident, the group says.
Citing its sources, it claims further that the chief of the military police, Ruben Nersisyan, the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, H. Vopanyan, and an employee of the Investigative Department A. Avagyan, were directly involved in the act of hooliganism.
“What causes an utmost repulsion is the attitude of the unit commander who, for fear of straining his relations with the military police, agreed to strike an illicit deal, by receiving a wounded soldier and sending him home,” reads the statement.
According to David Karapetyan, a spokesperson for the Defense Ministry, the military police chief has assigned an internal investigation into the validity of the facts furnished.
