Active members of the "New Times" Party (NTP) on Sunday held a regular meeting, during which it was decided that the Party will not run in Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections.
The main topic was the likelihood of the party's participation in the May 6 parliamentary elections, reports the NT press service.
Among participants of the meeting were the heads of the party's territorial structures and members of the political council.
Leader of the party Aram Karapetyan presented the entire logic of political developments that had been taking place since the party's congress held on 2 December 2011 and stated that the synthesis of the political situation in Armenia and facing the Armenian people, as well as the regional and geopolitical components make the party convinced that the May 6 state elections, which the ruling regime will turn into a political show, have nothing to do with the implementation of goals and programs of the "New Times" Party.
He reaffirmed the view that he had expressed during a recent press conference according to which it would be inappropriate for his party to participate in that show organized by the authorities. The participants of the meeting welcomed that position expressed by the party leader and the Board.
The party members also discussed future activities in relation to the challenges facing the country and the 2013 presidential elections. The participants took the decision to hold another representative meeting before the launch of the election campaign prescribed by the law and discuss the party's strategic steps to take on May 6.
