The leader of the Constitutional Rights Union, Hayk Babykyanyan, expects the ruling Republican Party of Armenia to garner 50% of votes in the May 6 parliamentary election.
At a news conference on Tuesday, the politician said his prediction is based upon the Party’s political vector and the specter of it contenders, as well as the outcome of the Hrazdan municipal polls.
“These three factors serve as grounds for me to believe that the Republican will get 50% of votes,” he explained.
Babkukhanyan, who is the 19th candidate on the RPA proportional list, said Prosperous Armenia is the most likely coalition party to be represented in the next parliament.
As for the other political forces – Rule of Law, the opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D), the Free Democrats party and the Armenian National Congress, he said they have to do serious work to prove to the voters that they really represent the interests of specific groups.
