Afghan families receive compensation for massacre.
USA
The United States paid $50,000 in compensation for each Afghan villager killed by Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales in southern Afghanistan, Associated Press reported.
The victims have received their compensation on March 24 in Kandahar governor’s office. It’s reported that $11,000 was paid for each person wounded in a shooting.
The families were told that the orders for the money came from President Obama. The unusually large payouts were the latest move by the White House to mend relations with the Afghan people after the killings threatened to shatter already tense relations.
