Leader of the People's Party Tigran Karapetyan thinks OEK won't garner more than 5 votes.

During today's press conference, journalists informed leader of the People's Party Tigran Karapetyan that one of his opponents at majoritarian precinct N 17, Henrik (Jonik) Abrahamyan, brother of ex-parliamentary speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, was no longer running in the elections.

"Long Live May the 1st," was Tigran Karapetyan's response.

He says the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) probably "sensed" that Karapetyan would be more notable, if there were three candidates running against each other.

We remind that Hovik Abrahamyan's relative, principal of the school in Mkhchyan village, HHK member Karine Poghosyan is also running in precinct N 17 that includes the Artashat, Masis cities and the surrounding communities.

Nevertheless, Tigran Karapetyan said he would like to see Jonik Abrahamyan keep his candidacy since that would allow for a serious struggle.

Tigran Karapetyan says he will go to the elections with the slogan "If you don't vote, you will lose" and will place the emphasis on the villagers' concerns "so that villagers don't appeal to the president when they have problems with grape production, but the deputies".

Karapetyan said he was currently holding talks with one of the opposition parties for possible cooperation.

The Armenian National Congress (HAK) has already announced that it will be supporting non-partisan Gagik Nersisyan at precinct N 17.

Out of the political parties participating in the elections, Tigran Karapetyan says he only believes in HAK "a little", even though he is concerned about the HAK's ideology. He also supports some figures of "Heritage" Party, even though he didn't understand why Raffi Hovhannisian ran in precinct N 7 and then removed his candidacy.

"The HHK thinks the country is in its hands, while the "Country of Law" Party (OEK) declares that it can garner more votes than the HAK. In reality, if all goes well, the HHK won't garner more than 20% of the votes thanks to its administrative resources, while the OEK won't garner more than 5 votes," said Karapetyan.

Tigran Karapetyan added that he would be running in the 2013 presidential elections, regardless of whether he wins in the parliamentary elections or not.
