Union of National Self-Determination may be dissolved.

It will become clear on March 31 whether Paruyr Hayrikyan's Union of National Self-Determination (AIM) will be dissolved or not. Mr Hayrikyan today personally told journalists that the AIM would discuss the issue in its meeting on Sunday.
According to the AIM leader, the reason for the decision is that his party no longer participates in political processes, including elections. Mr Hayrikyan made the striking statement at the end of today's press conference and refrained to elaborate.
Mr Hayrikyan today explained their decision to abstain from the May 6 parliamentary elections. He cited lack of money as the main reason. However, as Hayrikyan said, they would go to the polls and perform their duty as Armenian citizens. The AIM leader says with only one appeal they can garner 10-15 percent votes for any political force. Another reason is that the AIM leader did not want to run for parliament separately or on the party-list of other political forces.
"I am not going to abandon my teammates," he said.
On March 31, the party will also discuss their possible cooperation with other parties. Mr Hayrikyan did not hide his affection for the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Country of Law (OEK) and Heritage, though the party is likely to give its preference to the HHK.
"One thing is certain; we are not going to cooperate with the perpetrators of the March 1, 2008 post-election clashes," Mr Hayrikyan said without giving any names.
The Union of National Self-Determination is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
