Following a Yerevan electoral commission’s decision to reject ANC member Khachatur Sukiasyan’s bid for the parliamentary race, his brother, Saribek Sukiasyan has issued a statement, commenting on his reason for joining the campaign.
Sukiasyan, who is running for election from the same constituency, explains that his brother urged him to stand for parliament.
The candidate claims that the failure to register his brother was a gross violation of human rights and a political persecution that has caused wide protests in the society and in their circles.
“I consider it a political revenge against Khachatur and find myself obliged to combat such injustice by continuing his activities in parliament.
Secondly, being in parliament was not an end in itself for Khachatur. He has very many bills, initiatives and projects concerning the economy and wishes that they come to life. So my brother urged me to make this decision,” he says.
Considering his nomination a kind of response to the society’s demand, Sukiasyan promises to work effectively in the National Assembly, contributing to the improvement of the legislation together a team of economists and lawyers backing his initiatives.
