“Armenia backs peaceful settlement of Iranian issue, Yerevan has repeatedly expressed a disposition encouraging peaceful negotiations and dialogue between Iran and the international community,” Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian stated in a joint news conference with his Russian counterpart on Monday.
All the actions launched against Iran should have legal basis, Russian FM said.
In case the decision to launch hostilities is made, it will affect not only security of Armenia but Azerbaijan taking into account a large number of Azerbaijanis residing in the Islamic Republic, Sergey Lavrov said.
Such actions will have an impact on Russia’s security as the country may face massive flow of refugees, he added.
Under these circumstances, regional security will be threatened.
“It is difficult to predict the consequences but obviously they will be very negative,” he concluded.
“If the worst scene is considered and military operations are undertaken against Iran, it will influence not only on Armenia, but on the security of Azerbaijan also,” noted S. Lavrov adding that however Russia won’t be left apart either.
The Russian FM described the processes over Iran something weaved from complicated components.
