Armenian education minister receives Russian delegation.

Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan held a meeting on Tuesday with a delegation of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The sides discussed Armenian-Russian educational cooperation. Minister Ashotyan informed the Russian delegation of the priorities of Armenia’s education policy. He noted that the Armenian government plans to set stricter requirements to the higher education system.
The number of privately-owned higher schools is half as high as a few years ago due to amendments to Armenia’s relevant laws.
The government also banned the policy of granting equal legal status to state-run and privately-owned higher schools.
Minister Ashotyan also informed the Russian delegation of the reforms in Armenia’s education system as part of the Bologna process. The sides also discussed the activities of Russian higher schools’ branches in Armenia and joint education programs.
