Public hearing to be held on controversial bill.

On April 10, a public hearing will be held on the bill "On Legal Regime of Emergency Situations".

Representatives of the Constitutional Court, National Assembly, National Security Council and the police are expected to attend the hearing organised by the Army in Reality initiative.

"On February 23, the executive body submitted to the National Assembly a controversial bill "On Legal Regime of Emergency Situations" which immediately sparked resentment and criticism among organizations, experts and deputies.

However, for some yet unknown reasons, the National Assembly passed on March 21 the disputable bill with 68 votes. Experts state that the bill conflicts the country's Organic Law and provides a legal basis for an armed coup.
It is also annoying that the bill was passed in haste at the threshold of the May parliamentary elections, in the light of the tragic events of March 1, 2008," the initiative said in a statement.
