Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan pays visit to Yerevan`s Sergei Malayan Ophthalmology Center.

Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan paid a visit to the capital Yerevan’s Sergei Malayan Ophthalmology (Eye) Center, and got acquainted with the Center’s services and development programs.
The Center currently performs several unique eye surgeries, and the total number of annual operations is over 4,500, the Government Press Service informs.
At present, refractive surgeries are being developed at the Center, and these operations aim to eliminate myopia and farsightedness. Around 1,950 laser surgeries were conducted at the Center over the course of these years.
The Center is the main partner of the Armenian-American Eye Project ever since 1992, and, along the lines of this project, it received new equipment and medication, and a mobile hospital is established.
Also, the Center collaborates with the American Glaukos organization since 2007, whose objective is to test the latest valves used in surgical treatment of glaucoma.
The Center has a branch in Gyumri city, too.
A total of 249 employees currently work at the Sergei Malayan Ophthalmology (Eye) Center, which was founded in 1978.
