A representative of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), Vladimir Karapetyan, has met with long-term observers of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to share his concerns over the current parliament race.
Karapetyan, who is running for election from a single-mandate constituency covering Yerevan’s Nor Nork district, reportedly complained to Ashild Falch and Skander Ben Mami, of unequal campaign conditions.
According to a press release by the ANC, he denied his contestant Samvel Farmanyan’s allegations that both candidates have been given equal opportunities for conducting their electoral race.
Karapetyan noted t particularly that a private company delays providing him with advertisement stands on the grounds that it needs a permission by the City Hall.
The opposition candidate called the observers’ attention to the fact that Farmanyan, who represents the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), uses administrative resources for his campaign. He said that the governor of Yerevan’s Nor Nork district conducts meeting on the territories of schools, kindergartens and hospitals at working hours to back the ruling party’s nominee.
Karapetyan emphasized that despite the unequal conditions, he is conducting an active campaign with his teams and is planning to take measures to prevent possible election frauds.
