Candidates in majority list should differ from proportional ones - Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan.
Political
Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan thinks it is wrong to say that the parliamentary elections were to be held in proportional electoral system only. At the press conference he said that people today clearly realize what the candidate included in proportional or majority lists should do. According to him the proportional and majority lists do not complement each other, which means that in one electoral district there can be one leading party, while the candidate in majority list suggested by the same party cannot.
According to him people need a candidate of another category, if he is in majority list it is one thing and if in proportional one another thing. Society percepts the majority candidate as someone who will solve the social problems of this or that district, who will improve it; as for the proportional candidate they appear to be people who create places for work, who improve people’s social conditions and suggest laws.
The speaker also mentioned that few people read the booklets and projects that the candidates distribute. According to A. Adibekyan only one third of parties read their own election programs.
