Suspect in Gyumri murder case arrested.

A resident of Shirak region, Harutyun Sargsyan, was taken to a Yerevan court on Sunday afternoon amid suspicions of killing the would be son-in-law of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan.
According to photo reporter Gagik Shamshyan, the handcuffed suspect was brought to the hearing room by masked and armed employees of the Criminal Investigation Department’s Rapid Reaction Division.
A chief investigator of the Department submitted a motion for imposing a two-month detention upon Sargsyan. After the hearing which was held behind closed doors, the judge, Ruben Nersisyan, went to a consulting room for considering the matter.
The suspect is the son of Samvel Sargsyan, a former chief of Ani Police Department (Shirak region). The Investigative Department of the regional police has opened a criminal case under Articles 104.1 (murder) and 235.1 (llegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code.
LURER.com had earlier informed that the victim, Karen Yesayan, had been found dead in his Mercedes vehicle in the vicinities of the city’s Mother Armenia statue. He had just returned from the United States and was preparing for his engagement ceremony.
After returning from the consulting room, the judge satisfied the investigative body’s motion and Sargsyan was taken to the Nubarashen Penitentiary.
