Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan has promised to visit the Yerevan State Linguistic University (YSLU) on Thursday to respond to the students’ questions regarding the dismissal of the University’s former rector, Professor Suren Zolyan.
The minister talked to a delegation of five students in front of the Government building today as Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan went out to meet them. The meeting will start at 3:00 pm.
A larger crowd of students had gathered outside the Ministry earlier today to protest against Ashotyan’s decree on sacking the rector.
A delegation of journalists that met the minister told the students that the minister considered their demand to go down unserious and suggested instead a meeting with them in his office. But the students responded to the minister’s demand with criticism. They later headed towards the Government building to continue their protest.
