Nikol Pashinyan, Editor-in-Chief of the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper and member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), who is running for parliament in the 7th election district, made a speech at the ANC rally on Friday.
He called on the participants to carry out “a 30-second revolution.” The absence of some people from the rally does not at all mean they are not dreaming of free and fair Armenia. “Now, from Freedom Square, I am calling on you to carry out a 30-second revolution. People taking election bribes are afraid of showing their activity. I am addressing them now. Brothers and sisters, we are not expecting you to attend our rallies, canvass for the ANC or struggle against outrage, lawlessness and oligarchy. We are only expecting 30 seconds from you.”
“On May 6, when you leave your homes, while meeting your employers, local underworld leaders, give them a smile of Serzh Sargsyan, meet them with eyes of a Republican Party member. But when you take the ballot paper, then your 30-second revolution begins. You vote for the ANC and that’s all. Your secret-ballot revolution wins,” Pashinyan said.
“Just 30 seconds, and on May 7 we will learn that Lfik [the oligarch Samvel Alexanyan] and Serzh [Sargsyan] have been overthrown. Long live freedom! Long live Armenia! Long live our children, who will live in free and happy Armenia!” Pashinyan said.
